The tongue.

The tongue. Your tongue is made up of lots of groups of muscles which run in different directions, so that your tongue can move in lots of different directions, and cope with all its different jobs.Underneath your tongue is a soft, thin and smooth skin called mucous membrane (say mew-cus mem-brain). If you look under your friend’s tongue you will be able to see through the mucous membrane and see blood vessels. The tongue’s muscles need a lot of blood because they are working all of the time!At the back of your mouth are your tonsils. One is called the lingual tonsil (say ling-yu-all) and is at the back of your tongue. The other two tonsils are called palatine tonsils (say pal-a-tine). You can see them when you look down your throat – they are at each side.Tonsils help catch and destroy germs which try to get into your body. Sometimes there are too many germs, and the tonsils get swollen up. That’s when you get tonsillitis (say ton-sil-eye-tuss).Your tongue is fastened to the jaw bone (mandible) and to the front of your throat. Your tongue has about 3,000 – 10,000 taste buds on it! That is a lot of taste buds!   Try this at home: dry your tongue off with a paper towel and put a jalapeno on your tongue, and guess what? You won’t be able to taste it! You can’t taste anything without saliva. Okay, so those were some interesting facts on the tongue, now lets see what the bible has to say about it.

It says in Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. That means if you say “kill me” or he’s going to die” or “i wish she would go away”. You better think again. Those things might actually come true. In the verse it says they  shall eat the fruit thereof means they shall reap the consequences. So ask God to help you control your tongue. Read James 3:1-12 it says that they can put bits into a horse’s mouth and tame it, and the ships are controlled by a little helm, Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! No matter how hard you try you can’t tame your tongue. If you ask God to help you tame your tongue he will help you, but you have to do your part too. You have to think good thoughts and if you want to say something nasty… don’t say it, and ask God to help you if you feel mean or nasty words about to come out. I know it might be hard to do, you know if someone makes you mad and you want to yell at them. I have been there. But I asked God to help me not say anything bad. And he helped me! My mother and my grandmother always say “If you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all”. That is some good advice don’t you think? In Matthew 15:18 it says But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. And in Luke 6:45 it says A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Here are some more verses about how what you speak is from your heart.

Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Matthew 12:34
You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

But, if you use your tongue for good and glorify Jesus with it like telling others about Jesus, singing in choir, and there is many more ways too! It says in Psalm 37:30,31 The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment… In Psalm 40:8-10 It states I delight to do your will, O my God: yes, your law is within my heart… Psalm 71:15-18 My mouth shall show forth your righteousness and your salvation all … If your heart has God’s law in it (Psalm 40:8-10) then you will speak God’s truth right? Because out of your mouth proceedeth what’s in your heart.

Remember ‘If you can’t say something nice don’t say nothing at all!”

You are not alone

Have you ever felt all alone? Have you ever thought nobody is out there watching over you?  Well, someone is watching over you it’s God. It says in Luke 4:10 For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully. It also says in Psalm 121:5 The LORD watches over you– the LORD is your shade at your right hand. In Genesis 28:15 It says I’m here with you, and I’m going to be watching over you wherever you go. The I’m in the verse is God. God is always with you. In a old song it said “I got and angel that watches me I got an angel that follows me each day.” “When I sleep, when I talk, when I’m running when I walk I got an angel that watches me.” That song was made by Evie (a christian singer)

Riches are meaningless. Depend on God.

Have you ever heard of an aristocrat? Disney made a movie called The “Aristocats”.  (They were cats that lived in a mansion and were rich.) The name of the movie was taken from the word Aristocrat. But since they were cats they just changed the word crat to cat.

In Ecclesiastes 5:10 It says He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. That means money and riches will not make you happy. It says in Matthew 19:24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” But, what if someone is rich but loves Jesus and is saved? Will he enter the kingdom of God (also known as heaven)? Yes. Anyone who believes in God’s son Jesus (asks him to come into there heart and save them, and turn from there wicked ways) will go to heaven. But, not many people who are rich love Jesus. They love their money more. Read Matthew 6:19-34 It says no man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and money. It also says don’t store up treasures on the earth where thieves break and steal. But, store up treasures in heaven where breaking and stealing are not. (because there can’t be no sin in heaven).

It also says depend on God for all your need, don’t say what will I eat or what will I drink or what will clothe me? God knows what you need. Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? If God can take care of the lilies and the birds can ‘t God take care of you? He loves the birds and the flowers, but he loves the human beings so much more. Jesus did not die for the flowers or the birds he died for YOU! So, if God’s son was willing to die for you and  take your punishment (hell because we have sinned.) and give you a choice to either believe in his son and have eternal life or reject his son and not see life, then he WILL supply all your needs.

P.S – Jesus died and ROSE AGAIN! He did not stay dead. And he is in heaven now offering us the free gift of eternal life. I just wanted to make that clear. Jesus ROSE AGAIN! That is what we celebrate on Easter. Just like it says in Kari Jobe’s song Forever : the ground began to shake the stone was rolled away his perfect love can not be overcome. Now death where is your sting? Our resurrected king has rendered you defeated.  (:
