The Challenger

Thirty years ago yesterday, January 28, the Challenger explosion happened. The NASA family lost seven of its own on the morning of Jan. 28, 1986, when a booster engine failed, causing the Shuttle Challenger to break apart just 73 seconds after launch over Cape Canaveral, Florida. America watched in horror as the Challenger exploded.

7 people lost their lives, only one was known to be saved, he was Ronald McNair.

Here are the names of the people who died during this tragic accident: Michael J. Smith, Dick Scobee, Ronald McNair; (back row) Ellison Onizuka,  Christa McAuliffe (a high school teacher from Concord, New Hampshire. She was chosen to go into space in the 1985 teacher in space project. ) , Gregory Jarvis,  and Judith Resnik.

NASA has many theories on why the Challenger exploded. But, one known reason is unsure. Some say that it was because it had been coldest day in the history of shuttle launches. But, main reason they are leaning towards is booster failure.

I pray each one of these people had a chance to come to know the Lord Jesus Christ before they died.

This is an example that you can’t wait to be saved! You never know when you may die.  You may die right now! Do you know where you would wake up? Heaven or Hell? Never say “I’ll get saved later, or when I’m older.” How do you know that you will live that long? You don’t, only God knows. Believe in Jesus today, don’t wait.

Don’t wait to accept Jesus. You never know when God will call you home.

Psalm 118:8  It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man
