Hey y’all! So I posted an update on my blog entitled Devotionals. It’s beside About me, Prayer, My testimony, Home etc.

A new devotional page will appear every Friday of each month. A new month brings a new topic devotional.

This month’s devotional: Christmas: The stories in depth

One page of the devotional was posted last Friday. A new one will appear next Friday. In the end you will have read 4 pages (4 fridays in a month) of the topic devotional. Then a new devotional will start the next month.

Here is the first page of December’s devotional: Christmas: The story in depth Wk1

And remember to keep coming back each Friday for a new page! They will be listed under Devotionals on my blog.

Here it is:

Commercialism, Cyber Monday, Black Friday, Christmas shopping, gotta get this, gotta get that, presents, toys, decor.

Sadly this is what Christmas means to some people.

People try on purpose to take CHRIST out of CHRISTmas. Hence the name X-mas. They just get so caught up in the “Holly Jolliness” of the season and forget all about the savior. Now don’t get me wrong I start listening to Christmas music at the end of October, Burl Ives, Bing Crosby, The Andrew Sisters, The Carpenters etc. But we always make sure to remember our king, the one Christmas is all about. I pray you do too.

Many of you might have thought something along these lines: “What’s so special about the story of Jesus’ birth? It isn’t so “WOW” as some people make it out to be.”
When I was little I would listen to my mother read it, but now that I think about it my little mind only understood it as our savior’s birth. Just a special child being born. Nothing else, nothing less.
And goodness, was I mistaken.

Now as I have grown it becomes more real and more understandable to me. And it is, well it’s, “WOW”.

Now please stop. Get out your bible and turn to Luke 1:5-25.

Now, after you have read that. Ponder it a moment. Here are so “In depth thoughts”

#1 Elizabeth and Zachariah are well advanced in years. 60-80 years old age. Now as you well know I hope people after a certain age can no longer bear children. So their dream of a child was given up on. When the angel came to Zechariah it was so hard to believe that Elizabeth would have a son. He needed more faith.
#2 This was one of the first times an angel had appeared to someone in the New Testament. So imagine Zachariah’s fright over seeing an angel. This is why angels always greeted people with “DO NOT BE AFRAID.”
#3 The angel said that his son would prepare the way for the Lord. They had always awaited and prayed for the Messiah. So when they heard that their child would prepare the way they must have said “HE IS COMING SOON!!!”

Now please stop again. Now read in your bible Luke 1:26-38

Now, ponder it a moment. Here are some more “In depth thoughts”

#1 Mary, the mother of our Lord was only about 13-15 at the time. And she was engaged to a man named Joseph. Probably about 15 to 16 years old. Now, this was normal back then. 13 was considered to be a women, and ready for marriage.
#2 The Lord planned out who would be the mother of Jesus years before Mary was even born
#3 He picked Mary because she must have sought the Lord each day, prayed to him, read the OT (for they didn’t have the NT), and obeyed his laws. She could have said “Goodness no! I am engaged I can’t have a child. Go to someone else. You must be crazy. But instead little Mary said “I am the Lord’s servant. Let it happen to me as you have said.” She had more faith than Zechariah, and he was three times her age! Like Jesus said in Matthew 18:3 “And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”
#4 Mary probably hadn’t even thought of having a child. She just wanted to get married, and let the Lord lead.
#5 The law said that if a women is unfaithful to her engaged or husband then the husband was to divorce her. This would bring her family name shame. Mary probably thought “What would I tell Joseph? Would he believe me? Will I lose the man I love? What about mother and father? What do I tell them?”
#6 She must have been left with many questions. But she didn’t question God’s will
#7 They had been waiting for the Messiah to arrive. And then finding out your the mother of your Lord? She maybe felt unworthy of such an honor
#8 She was a virgin. Never had been with a man. When she asked the angel her question, and he answered, she didn’t question it, she took it by faith. My, that requires a lot of faith. This is why Jesus chose Mary. He knew she would do as he said.
#9 And just thinking of someone that young having a child? The messiah? The Lord Jesus?
#10 Such a big responsibility. Caring, teaching, taking care of her Lord?

And a very big one: #11 Jesus was in heaven the whole time. Then God sent Jesus down from heaven in a form of a child to be born into the world. Isaiah had spoken about this long before it ever happened.

Now stop yet again and read Matthew 1:18-25

Now ponder this passage. Here are some more “In depth thoughts”

#1 Joseph was probably thinking “How could she do this to me?” Broken hearted.
#2 But he loved her so much that he was going to divorce her quietly, and not ruin her name.
#3 When the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, he too did what the Lord had said. Took Mary as his wife.
#4 They both had great faith. Joseph probably could have said “Lies! Look what she did. And too think I was going to marry such a women!” But he listened to the Lord.
#5 They had the wedding while she was expecting. I wonder what the people thought about it. For it was against the law to have a child without being married. But they didn’t care. They loved each other and did what the Lord said.

Now read Luke 1:39-56

Here are more “In depth thoughts”

#1 When Mary visited Elizabeth and Elizabeth said “How is it the Mother of my lord should come visit me?” Mary probably had the reality sink in. She WAS the mother of Jesus. She probably cried a little. She was most likely scared, afraid, worried, but she trusted in the Lord.
#2 She stayed with Elizabeth 3 months. And Elizabeth probably helped her know how to take care of a child and things like that.
#3 Mary’s song was much like songs of David. Back then and today some people praise the Lord with song. And Mary did just that.
#4 Elizabeth’s child leaped inside her. John the Baptist was so happy to feel Jesus’ presence.

That is all we will cover today. Next week we will finish “In depth thoughts” and finish the story.

Giving Thanks

Hey guys. I hope yall can forgive me for not posting in a while. Goodness, time has flown by.

I pray all of yall had a good Thanksgiving. I know I did, especially with that green bean casserole.  🙂

But I pray yall remembered to give thanks. Not only the blessing of your food, but sincerely thanking the Lord for all you have.

Some of you might be thinking “Well life in rough I don’t have much to be thankful for”. Well for starters your alive so that’s blessing #1.

Count your blessings. And its amazing how many you have, how many the Lord has blessed us with. It is SO easy to take these things for granted, but we always have to remember to thank the Lord for ALL things…

Through good AND the bad.

Psalm 9:1 I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

Psalm 107:8  Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind

1 Chronicles 16:34  Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus

And really we are supposed to thank the Lord everyday for all we have. For life, for health, for family, for friends, for our pets, home, food, clothing, shelter etc.

The pilgrims had to go through ALOT to be able to come in America to worship God in peace. And we take worshiping God freely for granted. Here’s the pilgrims voyage in a nutshell:

The pilgrims came over from England on the Mayflower. They came here because they wanted to worship God in peace. Because, their king wanted everyone to practice one religion. Many people died on the Mayflower, and that first hard winter for the pilgrims. Thankfully, the Lord sent Samoset, an indian, and he introduced them to Squanto. He would later help the pilgrims plant, and grow crops. The pilgrims celebrated their first successful harvest by eating and rejoicing with the neighboring Wampanoag tribe. The celebration lasted 3 days.

In 1863, during the midst of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln announced that Thanksgiving would be celebrated nation wide on the last Thursday of November.

“No people on earth have more cause to be thankful than ours, and this is said reverently, in no spirit of boastfulness in our own strength, but with the gratitude to the Giver of good who has blessed us.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

  1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

    • Refrain:
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God has done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
*Count your many blessings, see what God has done.
[*And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.]
  2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.
  3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,
    Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings—*money cannot buy [*wealth can never buy]
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.
  4. So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
    Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end

Amazing song. And it reminds us to count our blessings, all which God has given us.

Another song once said: “When your worried and you can’t sleep just count your blessings instead of sheep. And you’ll fall asleep, counting your blessings.”

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good and his love endures forever. Thank him  for all he has given you. For who knows, one day you might not have them anymore. Don’t take your blessings for granted.

Happy Thanksgiving! ~Cupcakegirl10

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Psalm 103:2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,

Psalm 136:1  “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.”

I’m not ashamed

I’ve had the opportunity to go see I’m not ashamed, the true story of Rachel Joy Scott, who died for her faith in Jesus in the Columbine shooting, on April 20, 1999. The movie brought tears to my eyes, it was so, so good.

I encourage you to go see this movie! And make sure to bring tissues.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:

Halloween, questions we all have

Halloween is fast approaching! Goodness, hasn’t October just flown by? As soon as you know it Thanksgiving is going to be here, then Christmas, then 2017! My, has the year flown by quick.

I’d want to take the time to answer some questions many people have about the holiday.

How did it come about? I believe it started off when farmers, didn’t want “ghosts” to ruin their crops so they put out “sacrifices” or food to keep them happy. It has Pagan roots, and celebrates the dead. They had bonfires and wore masks to “keep the devil away”

Is it evil? My family celebrates Fall Harvest, not Halloween. Halloween’s origins were created from false religions, devils, spirits, ghosts. And goodness! The costumes people dress up in! It’s like they want to be involved with the devil! And they think hell is some amazing place! And my are they wrong! It is terrible. Fire, hot, gritting of teeth, and the horrible devil.

Can we still dress up? My family does, but in FRIENDLY costumes. Not wicked, evil, gross, gorry costumes as people do now. The Lord wants us to stay away from evil!

Should we be involved with it? As Christians we shouldn’t be involved with the devil, or spirits, or ghosts, or celebrating the dead! The Lord says “Get away!”

I remember, before I was home-schooled, our school would have a halloween parade each year. I would dress up as a princess, or something cute each year. But, in 4th grade (the year my mom started home-schooling us) I remember seeing disgusting costumes. Horrible things. It hurts my memory to remember such horror. It was in Elementary too!

Last year, my family drove around our town stopping at the stores to say “trick or treat” and earn candy. But, in some of the stores, we had to close our eyes, because of the horrible decor the store was providing as entertainment to their customers. We were thinking of looking at a parade that the town holds for halloween. But, in the paper it had pictures of children dressed up as devils, scream characters, Saul, etc. So, because the Lord says don’t be associated with such things, we decided not too.

Proverbs 4:13-16 Hold on to instruction, do not let it go;

guard it well, for it is your life.
14 Do not set foot on the path of the wicked
or walk in the way of evildoers.
15 Avoid it, do not travel on it;
turn from it and go on your way.
16 For they cannot rest until they do evil;
they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things

1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from every form of evil.

Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Psalm 119:2 Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart–

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

Happy Harvest! Jesus loves you! God bless! ❤  ~cupcakegirl10

Hey guys. Sorry for not posting in awhile. September slipped away from me, and now October is halfway through! Many of you might have heard about Hurricane Matthew. We are all good, but I have a story to share.

So the winds were blowing, and tons and tons of rain falling. And one of our pine trees decided to lean. So I told my mother about it and we started praying that it would stay up and not hit the house. Well the tree still leaned even more, but this time towards our neighbors house. So we prayed some more that it wouldn’t hit our neighbor’s house.

Well we had faith, especially momma, but the tree still came down. It didn’t damage anything, thank the Lord. Momma thought about it later and she asked her sister “I had faith.I knew God could hold it up. But why did it still fall?”

Romans 8:28 says that ‘All things work together for good. To them that love God to them who all the called according to his purpose.’

#1 The Lord used my mother to witness to our neighbors. She told them how she prayed that it wouldn’t hit there house, and it didn’t.

#2 God increased my faith during this. I am what people call a “worry-wart”. I don’t mean to be but it just happens. I freak out and worry to much. So, even though the tree still fell God increased my faith because I had doubts about God holding it up. It didn’t seem possible. But nothing is impossible with God. I need to trust him.

#3 He worked through my dad. Momma called my dad and told him about the tree falling. (He was at work) And she told him how she had faith that God could hold it, but he didn’t hold it up. But dad told her this:

He did hold it up. It didn’t come crashing down. It didn’t hit our house, or our neighbors. It didn’t break the fence.

What is really cool is if you look at the tree it’s leaning on a power line and on another tree. The tree that is holding it up has two branches that look like arms outreached, holding it up.

Even though we had a tree down God was still with us. Some were left homeless, flooded, trapped in their homes because roads collapsed all around. One collapsed near our house, we call it “the canyon”. But thank the Lord we have another road on which to travel. And all we had was a tree down. That’s a blessing.

God works in mighty ways. And I thank the Lord for that.

Romans 8:28 ALL THINGS work together FOR GOOD to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

You can never have enough bible verses

1 Peter 4:8  Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Esther 4:14 “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Lamentations 3:25-26 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were one the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land ye dwell. But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

Psalm 37:4-5 Delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto him, trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass.

Like the tree

An old song goes “I saw a tree by the riverside one day as I walked along. Straight as an arrow in went pointing to sky growing tall and strong. How do you grow so tall and strong? I said to the riverside tree. This is the song that my tree friend sang to me. I got roots growing down to the water. I’ve got leaves growing up to the sunshine, and the fruit that I bear is a sign of life in me. I am shade from a hot summer sundown. I am nest for the birds of the heavens I am becoming what the Lord of trees has meant me to be. A strong young tree.”

Jeremiah 17:8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

We need to be like a tree. Never fearing when things come our way, no worries, and never failing to show fruit of the spirit.

Psalm 1:2-3 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither– whatever they do prospers.

Always prospering, standing tall, always delighting in the Lord, meditating on his law.

Psalm 92:12 The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Psalm 106:5 That I may see the prosperity of Your chosen ones, That I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation, That I may glory with Your inheritance

Proverbs 11:28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.

If we trust in the Lord we will flourish like a leaf. Stand tall and not be moved, like a tree. Never being afraid, no worries, and never failing to bear fruit. And also humble.

If you have seen a willow tree, notice in bends. It is a humble looking tree. Almost like it is willowtree2bowing down to it’s maker.

We also need to drink water like the trees. Only not physical water, but spiritual water. Jesus said to the woman at the well, “but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst again. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

If we follow Jesus he will give us the water he talks about. He will come into are hearts. And the water of life will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life with Jesus forever. And in heaven you won’t thirst at all. But in hell you will. In this life you will thirst for ways out of situations, thirst for love, hope, other things. But all you need is Jesus and you won’t thirst for again again. Jesus fills you. He is enough.

Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

John 7:37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.

We also need to stand strong on the word of God. Ever heard of the song, “The wise man built his house upon the rock. The foolish man built his house upon the sand. The rains came down and the floods came up. But the house on the rock stood firm”

The rock is meaning to symbolize Jesus. “On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.”

Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.

Psalm 78:35 And they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their Redeemer.

2 Samuel 32:22 “For who is God, besides the LORD? And who is a rock, besides our God?

Deuteronomy 32:31 “Indeed their rock is not like our Rock, Even our enemies themselves judge this

Deuteronomy 32: 4 The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.

Psalm 62:7 On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.

We need to be humble like the willow. Strong like the cedar. Green like the oak. Fruitful like the apple. Flourishing like the palm. Delighting in the Lord like all trees delight in sunlight, water, soil. Prospering like the healthy tree. Tall like a pine. Not thirsty like the tree by the stream. Have a strong foundation like the tree on strong ground.

When you think about it we need to take these attributes from the trees and apply them to our own lives.

We need to be humans after God’s own heart. And we can apply a few things from God’s creation to our lives too.

No longer a slave

Please forgive me for not posting in a very long time. I’ve just been busy with summer activities. Camps, church, the beach, and the Olympics etc.

I entitled my post no longer a slave because there is a song with the exact same name. The song tells about how we are no longer slaves to fear. But a child of God.

With Jesus’ help; if we ask him, we can be no longer slaves to anything. Anxiety, stress, fear, worry, sin…. Whatever might be bothering you in this life.

Galations 4:7 says that, You are no longer slaves, but God’s child. And since you are his child you have become his heir.

And John 8:36 says that “So if the son has set you free than you SHALL be free indeed.

If you ask God to help you with whatever you might be struggling with he will help you. Like the verse says ‘than you shall be free indeed’

Free from whatever is bothering you, attacking you, holding you ‘hostage’. With his help we can no longer be slaves to anything in this life.

And since we are no longer slaves, we are God’s child.

And no one could ever pluck us from his hand.

Happy 4th of July

Happy Independence Day all! Today we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence declaring our freedom from King George III of England. Making us a FREE nation.

America. Our home was established this day 240 years ago. 56 people ranging in age from 26 to 76 years old from all over our nation signed this declaration.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

George Washington our nations first president plainly stated “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the bible.”

Our nation is straying from the Lord. The bible to most people these days is just a book of words. God to them is just a fairytale creature.

We need to stand firm in our faith. Don’t let people who don’t believe in God or believe that God does exist but they don’t want no part of him in there lives; change how you believe!

The Lord is coming soon! And we as christians need to get right with God before he returns. We need to fix anything that God would not be pleased with. So when he returns he will say well done my good and faithful servant. Also, the unbelievers need to get saved.

If you are truly saved you should want to go around saying “I am saved! Jesus saved me!” Acts 1:8 Go ye therfore unto all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo I am with you always even unto the end of the world. (when Jesus comes again)

Our nation needs to be prayed for. Pray that our nation will be one nation under God again. Pray that they will want and need God again. Pray for the upcoming election that someone who loves the Lord gets into office.

And don’t take our nation’s freedom for granted. Who knows how long our nation will be free to worship and serve God? Pray and read your bible when you can, because there might come a day when we can’t do those things anymore

God bless America!!!!!

God bless America my home sweet home.
